Ministry for Information Society and Telecommunications laureate of ITU prize
Ministry for Information Society and Telecommunications is the winner of this year's International Telecommunication Union (ITU) prize for "Promotion of information society among people with disabilities".
ITU prizes are awarded in several categories, and the Ministry has won the prize in the category "Ethical dimensions of the information society".
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Information Society and Telecommunications, Vujica Lazović, PhD, received the prize on behalf of the Ministry at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum 2012 which is held in Geneva, and the prize was presented to him by Dr Hamadoun Touré, Secretary General of the ITU.
Prize presentation ceremony was attended by over 40 prime ministers and ministers from European countries and the world.
This prize, coming from umbrella institution for the information society- the ITU, represents an extreme recognition for the Ministry, i.e. for efforts we make in the process of the information society development in Montenegro, especially in the field of information society promotion.
Let me remind you that this is the third time in two years that the Ministry has been presented with an international award. Namely, in 2010 and 2011, the Ministry was presented with a prominent international award in the field of ICT- "DISKOBOLOS", also for projects in the field of information society promotion.
