MIDTAfter successful workshops in Berane last week, Safe Internet Ambassadors from Bar spent two days in transferring knowledge and experiences to their peers. As part of the project “Connecting generations” about 200 pupils, through 7 workshops, learned about safe Internet and how to use it more appropriately for education and entertainment.

Peer education workshops are part of the project “Connecting generations” implemented through the partnership of Telenor and the Ministry of Telecommunication and Information Society, with special support from the Ministry of Education and Sports. The project is being implemented in 5 municipalities in Montenegro.
Pupils of VI and VII grade of Primary School ''Blažo Jokov Orlandić" from Bar had the chance to hear new and useful information on how to use Internet in a fun and safe way, entertainment and education on Internet but also about possible abuses. Attitude of their parents towards Internet was one of topics of discussion.

Svetlana Macanović, Director of Primary School in Bar, said that ''The workshops were of multiple benefits for the school. First of all, this topic is extremely important for pupils because most of them use Internet, but do not think about dangers that lurk and possible consequences. The content of the prepared material is various, teaching and very useful, because it presents to pupils the aspects of Internet which might endanger their safety. Pupils were given specific instructions on how to protect the contents they put on social networks from unwanted visitors who may abuse those, instructions on how to find educational sites and needed information. In this regard, it is positive that the workshops have been realized by their peers, who got the chance to develop their skills in this way.''
''In order to be more free on Internet we need to gain parent’s trust. We can do it in a way that we will show them what we do on our computers’’ this was one of observations of workshop participants related to the topic of parents and Internet. Workshop participants spoke about their experiences and time spent on Internet while sharing advices and asking questions that could resolve their own concerns.
Safe Internet Ambassadors from Bar agreed that the workshops were beneficial not only for their peers but also for themselves as they have learned a lot from participant. With taking the role of teachers they also have understood how demanding this job is. In this way they have been improving their presentation skills from one workshop to another.

The next workshop will be organized in Cetinje, on 30th March and 2nd April, for pupils from Primary School “Lovćenski partizanski odred”.
